The CarbonCare® Label is governed by a custom-designed Protocol which has incorporated the best practices in the areas of measurement and monitoring of GHG emissions i.e. GHG Protocol, ISO14064-1 and PAS2060. It aims to provide a credible, transparent and practical framework which can be consistently applied across a broad range of entities, products and services.
The quality of the Label and the integrity of the Protocol are overseen by an Expert Advisory Panel which comprises leading academics and professionals in the field of carbon management and sustainable development in Hong Kong. The current members of the Panel include:
All applications for CarbonCare® Label must go through a verification process conducted by an eligible verifier. During the process, the verifier will validate and verify the applicant's compliance to the Protocol in relation to the measurement, reduction, and offsetting of carbon emissions incurred by the applicant. This step can however be waived in part or in whole if the carbon accounting reports have been independently verified by a verifier conforming to the requirements of ISO14064-3:2006 prior to submission. CarbonCare® Certificates will only be issued to the applicant upon the completion of all relevant procedure. Current eligible verifiers include:
